China abandoned the idea of banning cryptocurrency mining

The National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC) has not included mining of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the final list of “undesirable industries” that are subject to a ban in the country.

The NDRC is responsible for developing the macroeconomic policies of the Chinese government. The department periodically compiles a catalog of industries that should be encouraged, limited or eliminated in the country, adjusting the structure of the industry.

In April, NDRC published a draft of a new catalog. Among other 450 types of activities, mining was included in the list to be banned in the country.

It is noteworthy that earlier in support the development of mining in the Chinese province of Sichuan (where up to 70% of all bitcoins are mined) the former vice president of the China Securities Regulatory Commission spoke out.

Recall that last month, President Xi Jinping announced the importance of introducing the blockchain technology. He also emphasized the need to create an ecosystem of the blockchain industry in the country.
