Facebook will launch its cryptocurrency in 2020

Cryptocurrency will be called GlobalCoin, in 2019 it will begin testing. In summer, the company is expected to disclose the details of the launch of this project. It clarifies that the founder of the social network, Mark Zuckerberg, has already met with the head of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, to assess the possible risks. Also, according to the publication, the regulatory and operational aspects of creating cryptocurrency have already been discussed with the US Treasury. Concerning the possibility of transferring money between customers without bank accounts, Western Union consultations were held.


What else is known:
For the first time about the creation of a new cryptocurrency Facebook became known in December 2018. Bloomberg wrote that a new means of payment will become a tool for purchases and money transfer within social networks, instant messengers and company services. Cryptocurrency exchange rate wanted to bind to the US dollar, making it liquid and giving the opportunity to trade on exchanges. The Financial Times newspaper wrote that Facebook negotiated with several venues at once for holding such auctions – Gemini, DRW, Jump and Coinbase.
