On Tuesday, the Ethereum Foundation made the scheduled launch of Medalla’s public multi-client testnet. With stable operation, Ethereum will be able to switch to the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism.
The second most popular cryptocurrency received a multi-client network. Medalla will be based on five Ethereum 2.0 clients: Lodestar, Teku, Lighthouse, Nimbus and Prysm.
Medalla is a platform for testing the features of the updated Ethereum 2.0 network. With its help, validators will participate in the mining algorithm throughout all the main phases of Eth 2.0 development, receiving real rewards for voting and adding new blocks in GöETH tokens. The Medalla Testnet is created and maintained by the Ethereum developers.
“The launch of Medalla is a huge milestone for Eth2,” developer Danny Ryan said during the launch broadcast. – If it is stable, the next step will be to launch the main network. It is the result of hard work for many years made by countless engineers, researchers and community members.”
In the two weeks since Medalla’s launch was announced, Ethereum’s value has doubled to $ 400.
Ethereum was developed by Russian programmer Vitalik Buterin and is recognized by experts as the most effective solution in the field of blockchain technology. Most of the smart contracts in fintech are launched on the Ethereum basis.
